LITURGICAL
MINISTRIES Lectors: Student Lectors share in the ministry of proclaiming the Word of God at weekend Masses and special campus liturgies. Lectors also participate in monthly Vespers to nourish their own spiritual lives. Chairperson: Eucharistic Ministers : Student Eucharistic Ministers serve the worship community as extraordinary ministers, assisting the celebrants with the distribution of holy communion at weekend Masses and special campus liturgies. Eucharistic Ministers also participate in a monthly Holy Hour to nourish their own spiritual lives. Chairperson: Ushers: Students assist in the Mass by greeting worshippers, handling the collection basket, and passing out any bulletins after the Mass has ended. Music Ministry:
Students serve the worship community by providing liturgical music at
some of the weekend Masses and some special liturgies. Singers and
musicians can use an develop their talents while working with the Campus
Ministry Music Director to enhancecampus liturgies with music. There
is a weekly rehearsal and music ministers sing at one of the weekend liturgies.
Chairperson: Peter Weathers FAITH DEVELOPMENT Spiritual Life Committee: Students concerned about helping to promote the spiritual life and a sense of Christian community among students. They help the Chaplains with spiritual events such as Twilight Retreats, assist with pastoral outreach to student abroad, to students in the hospital, or to students who have lost a loved one. They also serve as greeters/ushers at the Sunday Masses. Chairpersons: PC for Life Committee: PC Students for Life are committed to witnessing to and working for recognition of the dignity of human life at all stages. These students are committed to educating and promoting respect for life through special programs and educational speakers, as well as organizing PC students to go to the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. Pax Christi at PC is a local chapter of an international peace movement.
Founded in France in 1945, Pax Christi's first mission was to promote reconciliation
between French and German Catholics after the destructive influence of
World War II. On campus, Pax Christi members meet regularly for
prayer, study, and action on issues ranging from violence in our homes,
on our streets and on our campus, to international policy issues such
as nuclear disarmament. As a grass-roots movement, Pax Christi works
to promote personal and social transformation while fostering and maintaining
a global perspective. Membership in PC's Pax Christi Chapter is
open to full-time students, continuing education students, and interested
faculty and staff. Social Outreach: Students help with youth ministry at St. Pius parish, including assisting with Confirmation retreats. Volunteers also bring joy and Christ's compassion into the lives of elderly persons at the Elmhurst Extended Care Facility. Chairperson: Theresa Pavone Spiritual Life in
the Residence Halls: The Spiritual Life Committee for
Residence Halls is charged with developing and implementing programs,
workshops, and discussions for the campus residence halls. The Committee
will work with the Chaplain, Campus Ministry Council and Residence Life
Staff, in helping to builde spiritual communities in our Residence Halls. SUPPORT SERVICES Publicity: Student volunteers serve the vital function of publicizing all Campus Ministry Council/Pastoral Service Organization events, using the various media available on campus, to keep the PC community informed of all our events.
