Lifting

I think getting into lifting is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Lifting teaches you a lot about yourself and what you're capable of, because it forces you to set goals that require dedication and hardwork to accomplish. When you first get started, it's really hard to force yourself into the gym everyday, but as you build a habit of going and the results become more visible, gym time becomes the best part of the day.

Aside from the obvious physical benefits, lifting helped me out with getting my homework done. When I started in high school, I had a problem with procrastinating with work, but I was able to use discipline I learned from working out to make sure I got my homework done early.

Finally, I think lifting is one of the best confidence-boosters there is. When you're able to easily put up weights you used to struggle with, it makes you realize how much you're capable of, and how anything is possible, inside and outside of the gym.

I put in three weight-lifting days every week, each time for about an hour and a half. On my off days, I do between 200 and 250 push ups and about 200 crunches to keep me feeling like I did something physically for myself that day.
