My family consists of 6, my mother is Angela Canela, my father Emiliano Batista, two sisters Jessica,23 and Jelissa,19, one brother Juniro, 22 and me Jahaira,18. My parents are from the Dominican Republic but my borther and sisters and I were born in Queens, New York. We lived n Queens until i was 5 then my parents decided to move to the Dominican Republicfor for good. My parents wanted us to grow up in our country and be able to know it well, get a feel of the culture and be very intached wit our roots and family. I am very thankful for that beacuse if i were asked to do it over i wouldn't change a thing on how they raised us. We were all doing good, my father had a job, my mother would stay at home with us, we were all in school, everythung was going good for us. Until one day that my father and brother got into a terrible car accident that changed our lives forever. We had to move back to the US due to our financial status.. Once we were back here it was hard for us to adapt back to the system but we all got through it and now we are doing fairly well.

My whole family from aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, in-laws, brothers, and sisters are very close we like to keep in touch about everything that is going on within each other, family means everything to us. We like to have big parties to celebrate anything, we are fairly loud and out there, that is one thing about my culture that is common.

My father and mother work full-time jobs, my oldest sister Jessica is a CCRI graduate, my brother Junior works full-time, my other sister Jelissa works and goes to CCRI, and I go to Providence College. We all have very different personalities and likes. Jessica is very quiet, most organized and responsilbe. Junior is outgoing but lazy and only remembers things that will benefit hime. Jelissa has the strongest personality and is very opionative, she isn't scared to tell anyone off. And me, i'm the crazy energetic loud one and always making my famaly laugh .
